Improved performance of corrugated metal gaskets in boiler’s piping system through multilayered coating

The corrugated metal gasket is still in the early stages of development. However, contact flanges with a high surface roughness (more than 3.5 µm) leak and require lot force to tighten. A nickel or copper-coated was designed. water pressure test used measure leaks, results revealed that copper-covered gaskets performed better. effect temperature has not been explored this study, which only reveals pressure. goal study use copper coatings improve performance gaskets. Copper infiltrates pipe flange's rough surface, preventing leaking. purpose investigate coated boiler system, Corrugated were formed using cold forming process. material SUS304, nickel-plated through electroplating. installed series pipes flows at trickling on white paper had placed beneath gasket. Even small leaks are detected paper. thermal camera can detect vapor leaks. studies reveal gasket's improved, as seen by reduction leakage. At highest 7 bar lowest tightening 40 kN, neither leaked. This result different from standard gaskets, where same temperature, steam observed. Both nickel-plating types be coat made SUS304.
